Hi,
My aunt Agnes Klassen, when she was of a certain age, became interested in our family history. She organized a large extended family reunion in 1999 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Some of the participants gave her records, including photos, diaries, letters and essays, of family members. Thankfully, many in our past put their experiences down on paper. After her passing in 2019, I recovered several binders of these notes and they are the basis of this website.
Now that I am of a certain age, I have become very interested in our family history too. In particular, how faith in God and being part of the Mennonite community in South Russia intersected with adverse national events. Of course, no family lives in isolation and the Klassens were connected by marriage and community to other families like the Rempels, Dirks, Schroeders and Friesens.
So, this website with stories and a portrait wall is dedicated to our extended Klassen family. On behalf of the many who came before me and toward those who will come after,
Bob Klassen
