I think that there is potential for making podcasts about a limited number of my relatives who lived through the tumultuous ups and downs of the first half of the 20th century. The time frames that I am thinking about are:
Pre 1914, before the 1st World War
1914 to 1923, the Bolshevik revolution, epidemics and famines
1924 to 1931, emigration and non-emigration
1932 to 1939, poor immigrants in North America, some growing towards middle class, the Holomodor in Ukraine, Soviet collectivisation
1939 to 1945, WW 2
1946 to mid 1950's, education, loss in the Soviet gulag
The individuals that I would like to trace their path through these periods are:
My dad (Harry F. Klassen)
Evangeline Dirks Rempel
Arthur Rempel
Evangeline Rempel
Greta Rempel Loewen
My grandfather (Heinrich H. Klassen)
Pre-1914
