One of my great grandfather's sister-in-laws was Evangeline Dirks Rempel (1873-1966). In her 70's, Evangeline had enough respite from work to write down her experiences. Starting from living as a missionary's kid to living through both world wars and the transition of South Russia to the Soviet Union. Not to give too much away, she was able to emigrate to Canada and lived most of her last two decades in Winnipeg. These reminiscences were written German and were translated by her grandaughter, Irene Artes Hedlin around 1994.
